Harness Racing Australia (HRA)
Harness Racing Australia is the national governing body for harness (trotting/pacing) racing in Australia. It coordinates between state-level authorities to maintain uniform rules, administer horse registration and licensing, and oversee industry-wide standards, integrity, and international harness-racing affairs (e.g. inter-state and cross-country races).
Originally established on 23 December 1974 (then as the Australian Harness Racing Council), it was rebranded to HRA on 31 October 2008.
Its mission is to promote and regulate the harness-racing industry across Australia — ensuring consistency, fairness, welfare, and development of the sport nationwide.
